Here at JULIUS-K9® UK we’d like to clear up some misinformation regarding no pull harnesses – there is no such thing as a completely no pull dog harness or collar.

What no pull equipment does do is limit a dog’s ability to yank on the leash and allow you to stop their pulling safely. When used correctly they can be an effective training tool and allow you to walk with your dog in a more controlled and disciplined manner.

JULIUS-K9® no pull harnesses

We do not sell no pull harnesses here on the JULIUS-K9® UK website.

No pull harnesses are designed to restrict a dog’s natural movement in order to train them into walking without yanking on the leash and trying to run ahead of you. JULIUS-K9® harnesses do not restrict your dog’s movement.

We take great pride in our harnesses with dog safety and comfort being our number one priority. See our scientific studies for details on how our harnesses are safe and do not affect your dog’s natural movement:

How do no pull harnesses work?

Ultimately lead pulling is a training issue and no pull harnesses are designed as a training tool to get your dog to walk to heel. With a no pull harness your dog has to walk by your side. If the dog jolts forward then the leash is designed to go off to one side instead of directly backwards. This is safer for the dog and directs your dog back towards you.

This improved level of control helps you bring your dog back to heel by using minimal pressure - limiting choking potential and greatly reducing risk of throat, neck, and shoulder injuries.

Clip types

Front clip and duel clip are the two main types of no pull harness available. There are also two main design types: padded and belt. Padded no pull harnesses have padding on the chest and/or sides for extra comfort and protection from injury. Belt harness designs are designed to be lightweight and less restrictive.

Front clip

Front clip harnesses have the leash attachment D-ring on the dog’s chest. This front placement allows for greater control over the dog when it does pull, while also being easier to steer your dog in the right direction.

Duel clip

Duel-clip harnesses have a front clip and a back clip D-ring for attaching a leash at two different points. This gives you a choice of where to place the leash, or provides an option of a double lead adapter to use both clips at the same time. Double leash attachment is a good option for giving you more control over larger breeds or highly energetic dogs.

What is a no pull dog collar?

There is no such product as a no pull collar in the traditional dog collar sense. As mentioned above, no pull dog equipment is made to evenly distribute pressure across a dog’s body to greatly minimise risk of injury. Due to this, no pull equipment is designed to provide support across the dog’s shoulders and back to better spread the force of any pulling.
