national dog trails event details

The Police Dog Trails are back for its 59th year! This year’s trails are being hosted by the Gwent Police Force at Tredegar House in Newport, South Wales.

This free family-friendly event tests police dog’s obedience, agility and criminal work skills.

The three day event sees tough in-house and regional qualifying rounds before the finals, where a new champion will be crowned.

Police Scotland won last year’s 2018 Trails.

From the official Facebook page:

Following the qualifying in-house and regional trials, the main trials will be taking place at the iconic Tredegar House, from the 17th to the 19th May. Why not pop along and witness these amazing animals whilst they’re being tested for their obedience, agility and criminal work?

We are extremely proud of each and every one of our dogs for the amazing work they do but, as it’s a competition, there has to be a winner! This week sees the first stage of the competition, with the in-house trials being held.

The event is free and open to the public. Dogs are of course also welcome but please make sure to keep them on their leads.
